Choral MPA Thursday, February 18, 2010

The Advanced chorus will be participating in the choral music performance assessment.  The choir will sing two songs and also sight sing for 4 judges.  They will receive ratings for their performance.  We need 4-5 approved volunteers to attend and be chaperones for this event.  Please email me at christina.baker@polk-fl.net or write on the permission slip your information if you are available to chaperone and I will contact you to confirm that we need you to attend this event.

 What to Wear:  Concert Black Uniform and CLOSE toed black shoes.  Open toed shoes are not allowed.  Shoes must be black.  Guys please wear black socks with your uniform. Jewelry- Please only wear small earrings and leave all bracelets, necklaces and watches that beep at home.    No perfume please!

Day of Event:   Come to school dressed in your concert uniform because there will not be time to change before we leave.  We will return around 1:00p.m.  Put everything in your locker before you come to class.  You will have time to go to your locker to get your binders when we return to school.

When to Meet:  We will be loading the bus at 9:00a.m.  We will leave right after first period.

 What to Bring: Please pack your lunch in a Ziploc baggie with your name on it.  We do not have room for lunch boxes.  There will be a concession stand available at the high school to purchase snacks .   Items on the list include drinks, candy, pizza and hamburgers.  Cost per item varies.

Orchestra MPA Saturday, February 20, 2010

 Location:  Mulberry High School

Meet Time:     Students need to meet me at 8:30a.m.   We will meet in the gym and unpack.

We will go into the warm up at 9:00a.m.   Our stage performance is at 9:30 a.m. in the auditorium.  Parents and friends are welcome to watch.  At 10:00a.m.we will be in the sight reading room.  You will be finished at 10:30 a.m.  Please make sure you have transportation by 10:45a.m.  You may wait to find out our ratings.  They will be posted on the wall. 

Dress:  Concert Black

Ladies:   Concert Dress and close toed black shoes for ladies

Men:    Concert tux pants and black shirt with black socks and black shoes

What to bring:  Instrument, shoulder rest for violins and violas, rock stops for celli and basses, and music .

This is a very important event.  Students will receive a rating from 4 judges and also a concert grade in class.  Make sure you are on time and make arrangements for this very special concert/competition.

Go South on Florida Ave          (8 Miles) About 15 minutes

Continue onto Fl-37                (2.5 Miles)  About 4 minutes

Turn Left on NE 5^th St.             (.8 Miles)  About 4 minutes

Continue onto Panther Place (.1 Mile)

At Mulberry H.S. we will be in several different rooms.

1.       Gym  Meet to Unpack and Tune

2.      Cafeteria  Warm up Room

3.      Auditorium for Stage Performance

4.      B-1 Band Room for sight reading
